Bee City
Georgina is honoured to be recognized as the 85th Bee City by Bee City Canada. This prestigious designation highlights the community's
dedication to protecting and supporting pollinators, vital contributors to the ecosystem and food supply. To celebrate this achievement we asked our farmers: "Why are pollinators important to you?"
"One out of every three bites of our food, including fruits, vegetables, chocolate, coffee, nuts, and spices, is created with the help of pollinators. In addition to the food that we eat, pollinators help to support healthy ecosystems that clean the air, stabilize soils, protect from severe weather, and support other wildlife" ~ Chris Campbell, Hiveshare
"If you like to eat... thank a pollinator! They are an integral part of the food-growing process. They also remind us of the interconnection between all living things, and that even the smallest of creatures- the humble little bee for example- has just as important a role to play in this dance of life as the great oak tree that gives us oxygen to breathe" ~ Zandra Zalucky, Elmgrove Organic Collective
"Our farm relies on pollinators to pollinate all our apples and berry blossoms so we have delicious produce ready for you" ~ Nathan Pegg, Homestead Orchards
